Duties also include managing a budget, operating the gift shop and networking with local artisans. Applicants should be knowledgeable of local history. This is a part time position, including Saturdays. Some evening hours may be required.
Located in downtown Pikeville, the Big Sandy Heritage Center features exhibits from the Hatfield McCoy Feud era, the coal and railroad industries, the Civil War, historical artifacts that represent the Eastern Kentucky region, including its music, local art, economic development and education.

With the resignation of Director Polly Hopkins earlier this year, the Big Sandy Heritage Center is seeking a museum director to manage daily operations, including interns and volunteers, to give museum tours, to develop exhibits and educational programs and to create displays. The successful candidate must possess the
communication skills to build community relationships, actively seek sponsorship and grant opportunities and promote the museum through traditional and social media.
